The Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval is one of the most remarkable natural sites in the Alps. Its impressive cliffs, ranging from 500 to 700 meters in height, are overlooked by peaks reaching nearly 3,000 meters in elevation. This spectacular landscape is home to more than thirty waterfalls that cascade down the rock faces and snowfields. A walk through the area allows you to explore them in an exceptional setting.
Some waterfalls, notably those at Fond de la Combe and Nant des Pères, are fed by the surrounding glaciers. Among the most famous are the Pierrette—also known as the Fontaine de l'Or—and the Méridienne, both located below the Corne du Chamois. As you continue along the cliffs of the Fer-à-Cheval, you can admire the Joaton, Pissevache, and Lyre waterfalls—the latter renowned for its beauty—as well as the Genette, Saint-Jacques, Citerne, Folly, and Massue waterfalls. Further downstream, above the village of Brairet, lies the Dard Waterfall. In the Fond de la Combe valley, the Rejon, Cage, Scie, Violon, and Gouille waterfalls round out this exceptional natural heritage.
